Recall Action: Dometic hob. [12.08.2021]
Recall Action: Dometic hob.
Dear Nugget driver,
We have been informed by our supplier Dometic that a hob manufactured by Dometic and installed by us may have safety-relevant defects in the form of leaking hob gas lines and gas regulators (see also under :
https://www.dometic.com/de-de/outdoor/de/lp/product-warning-and-recall).
There is thus a risk of serious injury from fire/explosion from gas escaping through the leaks. Within the framework of trusting and open communication, we would like to inform you about the further procedure on the basis of the information provided to us by our supplier Dometic as follows.
Who is affected?
With the exception of the Big Nugget, all Nugget models from Westfalia production date 12.05.2021 may be affected.
Which cooker are we talking about?
The affected Dometic cooker is:
Dometic SKU No.: 9600027606, Model: PI8022
Cooker up to serial number 12793610034900900 are affected.
How do I find the SKU No.?
The SKU no. is located on the type plate of the hob. This can be found in the operating instructions for the hob or on the underside of the hob. An example of a type plate is shown:
- First find out the date of first registration or the production date of your vehicle. If the date is after 12.05.21, you must check the product plate of your hob.
- The product label should be included with the hob's operating instructions. If this is not the case, you will find the product label on the underside of the hob. If the underside of the hob is not accessible, your specialist dealer/installer can help you check it.
- On the product label you will find the SKU number. This starts with 96000... and can be found in the list above if your hob is affected by the recall.
- Only hobs with SKU no. 9600027606 are affected.
If the SKU no. cannot be determined, please contact your Dometic service partner, who can be found on the homepage www.dometic.com.
What should I do if the cooker in my motorhome is affected by the leak?
PLEASE STOP USING THE COOKER IMMEDIATELY, CLOSE THE SHUT-OFF VALVE AND KEEP THIS CLOSED! AS A RESULT OF THE LEAKAGE, AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF GAS MAY ESCAPE DURING THE LIFE OF THE PRODUCTS, WHICH MAY IGNITE IF A SUITABLE IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT. THIS MAY RESULT IN THE FORMATION OF FLAMES IN THE AREA OF THE CONTROLLERS. FURTHERMORE, IT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED THAT THE AIR-GAS MIXTURE EXPLODES IN THE WORST CASE. THIS CAN SERIOUSLY INJURE THE USERS OF OUR PRODUCTS AS WELL AS UNINVOLVED THIRD PARTIES.
What comes after closing the gas shut-off valve? Who will help me then?
Please contact your Dometic service partner immediately. You can find the service partner on the homepage www.dometic.com. He will coordinate the next steps with you. He will check the cooker and repair/replace it if necessary. This inspection/repair by the Dometic service partner is of course free of charge for you.
One request to you:
Please let us know the name of the Dometic service partner, the SKU no. of the cooker and the chassis no. after the inspection/repair. This will enable us to track the status of the recall. We look forward to receiving your e-mail at: qm@westfalia-mobil.de.
Your Westfalia Service Team.
